Job Description:

Overview:

OME-RESA is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to lead and oversee the management of our data center environment. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our IT systems, with a focus on VMware virtualization, DUO security, and other critical system and network technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to a team of IT professionals responsible for maintaining and supporting data center operations, ensuring high availability, performance optimization, and security compliance.

  • Manage and administer OME-RESA's data center environment, including VMware virtualization infrastructure, DUO multi-factor authentication, and other system and network components.  Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
  • Design, implement, and maintain virtualized environments using VMware products such as vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi, ensuring seamless integration and optimal resource utilization.

  • Configure and manage DUO Security for multi-factor authentication across various applications and systems, monitoring security events and implementing best practices to enhance overall security posture.
  •  Management of Active Directory, overseeing user accounts, group policies, security settings, and other aspects of network management within a Windows environment, including tasks like user provisioning, access control, and ensuring the stability and security of the Active Directory infrastructure.
  • Management and maintenance of Windows Server operating systems, including tasks such as installing, configuring, and maintaining servers; managing user accounts and permissions; configuring network services like DHCP and DNS; implementing security measures; and troubleshooting server-related issues.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their technology needs and requirements, providing expert guidance and solutions to support their objectives.

  • Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and migrations in coordination with relevant teams, minimizing downtime and disruptions to operations.

  • Implement and enforce IT policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain the integrity and reliability of the data center environment.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluate their potential impact, and recommend strategic initiatives to enhance IT infrastructure and services.

  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to team members to foster professional development and expertise in system and network technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), DUO Certified Administrator, or other industry-recognized credentials are highly desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of VMware products, including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi, with hands-on experience in design, implementation, and administration.

  • Experience with DUO Security or similar multi-factor authentication solutions, including configuration, integration, and management across diverse systems and applications.

  • Proficiency in system and network administration, including, but not limited to, server management, storage solutions, networking protocols, and security practices. Experience managing data center environments with Active Directory and Windows servers is preferred.

  • Strong work ethic with the ability to motivate and mentor other team members to achieve organizational goals.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
