VISION STATEMENT

  • Given our cultural diversity, students in the Steubenville City Schools will possess lifelong learning skills which will enable each, as unique individuals, to become successful citizens in the global economy.

  • We will improve through curricular design and intervention the academic performance of all students as measured by state and local assessments.
  • We will provide targeted professional development to facilitate improved student performance.
  • We will continue to implement an updated facilities plan to maximize our resources and benefit our educational program and community.

 SCS District News from the Superintendent

  • SHS Close-Up Trip
    Approximately twenty five Steubenville High School Underclassmen are in Washington D.C. the week of March 30, 2008 to attend" Close up "  In Close up students see government operation first hand. They visit sessions of congress, meet with local congressmen and representatives, etc.  The trip is under the direction of Gifted Director, Nancy Shuster.

  • End of Nine Weeks
    The 3rd Nine Weeks will end on Friday, April 4, 2008. Report cards will be distributed on Tuesday, April 8, 2008. New nine weeks begins 4/7/2008.

  • Sunday, April 6, 2008 -  Open House/ Dedication of Garfield/ East Elementary
    The public is invited to the dedication of East Elemtnary School located at 936 North 5th Street on Sunday, April 6, 2008 from 1:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M   A short ceremony will be held at 1:00 P.M. with tours from 1:30P.M.- 4:00 P.M. open to the public.

  • Steubenville City School District Open Houses
    The Steubenville City School District will sponsor open houses the week of April 7-April 9th at different buildings from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M.   The specific dates for each building are:  Harding School Open house will be held the evening of April 7, 2008 , Elementary  School Open Houses will be held on Tuesday, April 8, and  Steubenville High School's Open House will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 .  Parents will visit with teachers to learn how their students are doing the second semester.

  • Early Dismissal- 4/11/2008
    There will be 1/2 day for students on Friday, April 11,  2008 as teachers will have a professional development day in the afternoon. 

  • Destination Imagination-4/12/2008
    The Steubenville City Schools will send five teams to Ohio State Destination Imagination competition on Saturday, April 12 , 2008 in Barberton, OH. Good luck teams.

  • Board of Education Meeting
    The April Board of Education Meeting will be held in the McKinley School Board Room on Wednesday, April 16, 2008  at 6:00 P.M.
  • OAT
    The Ohio 3rd-8th grade Achievement tests will be given the weeks of 4/21/2008 through 5/2/2008.  Good Luck staff and students.

  • Volunteer Dinner
    The Annual Dinner to honor persons who volunteer to help our students will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 5:30 P.M. in the SHS Commons. 

  • OSFC Update
    The East will hold an Open House on Sunday, April 6 from 1-4PM. SHS work continues on the Basement with projected completion this August. Then work will proceed to the first floor.  Work in the West is on schedule but lagging slightly.  A more detailed report will be given after the April 2008 board meeting.
