Another great group that's also very umm... how should I put this? Different. Who are they? They're Gorillaz.

Here are the members(not the real members but the cartoon characters)

From Left to Right:

Noodle:Guitar and Vocals

2D:Lead Vocals and Keyboards

Murdoc:Bass

Here's a challenge for you. What are the names of each one of Gorillaz's singles? Go to www.gorillaz-unofficial.com to find out.

gorillaz

You know this years the 30th anniversary of punk rock. So here's a list of the most important punk groups of our time.

The Ramones:Of course they'd be up here. I mean they invented the genre for Pete's sake!

.

The members are (going counter-clockwise):

Dee Dee Ramone:Bass and Vocals

Joey Ramone:Lead Vocals

Marky Ramone:Drums

Johnny Ramone:Guitars

In fact they're so influential they even influenced non-punk groups like Metallica and U2. They even got referenced in the rock and roll manga:Beck.

Here's another question. How many Ramones members have there been throughout their career?

Next up is The Dead Boys one of the first groups to be influenced by The Ramones.

The Dead Boys are(from left to right):

Jimmy Zero:Guitars and Vocals

Johnny Blitz:Drums

Stiv Bators:Lead Vocals

Cheetah Chrome:Guitars

Jeff Magnum:Bass

The Dead Boys were also the first punk band to come from somewhere that wasn't New York City or London.

Which city were The Dead Boys from?

And who can forget The Misfits the inventors of the sub genre 'Horror Punk'.

The guys in the picture are (from left to right)

Jerry Only:Bass and Vocals(1980-2000) Lead Vocals and Bass(2001-Now)

Glenn Danzig:Lead Vocals(1980-1985) After The Misfits he was in Samhain before starting Danzig.

Robo:Drums(1980-2000) Now Marky Ramone from The Ramones is drumming in the band.

Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein:Guitars and Vocals

The current lineup though is Jerry,Dez(from Black Flag),and Marky.

Which show on Adult Swim did Glenn Danzig make a cameo on?

Some say that size matters and they couldn't be more correct considering the height of the next groups frontman.

That's right I'm talking about Black Flag.

The members are:

Henry Rollins:Lead Vocals

Greg Ginn:Bass and Vocals

Dez Cadena:Guitars and Vocals

Bill Stevenson:Drums

Which bad guy on the show Teen Titans does Henry Rollins do the voice for?

Then of course there was the goofy and funny group,The Descendents.

They considered themselves nerd punks and loved things like coffee, cartoons, food, fishing, video games, and of course punk music.

The lineup is from left to right:

Milo Aukerman:Vocals

Stephen Egerton:Guitars

Karl Alvarez:Bass

Bill Stevenson:Drums

How long was their song "I Like Food"?

Then there was Social Distortion, the first skate punk group ever.

This motley group of dudes is(from left to right):

Johnny Wickersham:Guitars

John Mauer:Bass and Vocals

Mike Ness:Vocals and Guitars

Charlie Quintana:Drums

What member of Rancid filled in temporarily on bass for Social D?

Then came another huge skate punk group,Bad Religion.

Members are(from front to back):

Greg Graffin:Lead Vocals

Brian Baker:Guitars

Jay Bentley:Bass

Greg Hetson:Guitars

Brooks Wakerman:Drums

Brett Gurewitz:Guitars and Vocals

Brett started the biggest and best known record label in the punk society:Epitaph Records.

What major label did BR join temporarily from 1995 to 2001?

Up next is another goofy punk group much like The Descendents. Let me introduce you to The Vandals.

From left to right:

Dave Quackenbrush:Lead Vocals

Joe Escalante:Bass and Vocals

Warren Fitzgerald:Guitars and Vocals

Josh Freese:Drums(he's drumming with The Offspring now though since The Vandals are on break).

The Vandals also have their own record label:Kung Fu Records.

What is the name of the direct to DVD tv show that Joe Escalante created?

In fact speaking of The Offspring that's the next band I'll be featuring.

They are(from left to right):

Greg Kriesel:Bass and Vocals

Dexter Holland:Vocals and Guitars

Ron Welty:Drums(Though Josh from The Vandals is their current drummer.)

Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman:Guitars and Vocals

The Offspring helped revive the punk industry and became one of Epitaph's hottest artists.

They are also one of the few punk bands who managed to not sell out after moving to a major label.

What diploma does Dexter hold for his Bachelor's Degree?

Next up is a band that not only helped revive the punk scene with The Offspring but also helped revive the ska scene.

I'm talking about Rancid.

The members are(from left to right):

Matt Freeman:Bass and Vocals

Brett Reed:Drums

Lars Frederickson:Guitars and Vocals

Tim Armstrong:Vocals and Guitars

Did you also know Rancid have been on the show South Park? It's true.

What other bands has Tim Armstrong been in?

People credit Green Day as the best 90's pop-punk group. In my opinion they're great but the true pop-punk greats of the 90's are none other than Blink-182.

They're(from left to right)

Travis Barker:Drums

Mark Hoppus:Vocals and Bass

Tom DeLonge:Vocals and Guitars

What was the name of the band that Tom and Travis briefly started in 2002?

Then to finish this list up is Canada's best band since D.O.A. and Billy Talent,Sum 41

These dudes are(from left to right):

Steve "Stevo32" Jocz:Drums

Dave "Brownsound" Baksh:Guitars and Vocals

Deryck "Bizzy D" Whibley:Vocals and Guitars

Jay "Cone" McCaslin:Bass

They distinguish their pop-punk sound by also mixing in elements of hip-hop and heavy metal to make themselves sound fresh.

Which heavy metal groups do they reference in the song "Fat Lip"?

And I'm done with this article. Next up cool anime.

Now as we all know the sensation known as "anime" has become increasingly popular in America.

But what is it you may ask? Well it is any cartoon made in Japan and is actually quite younger than American animation.

Another thing about anime is the fact that it isn't always aimed at children unlike most American caroons which are.

I'm not hatin' on American cartoons just pointing out a fact. In fact usually when an anime is aired during the daytime programming

schedule it's edited so as to make it suitable for all audiences. Though if you disagree with that you can always buy the DVD's.

However not all programming blocks do this. In fact Cartoon Network's Toonami block has aired the eagarly anticipated Naruto

almost completely uncensored. Then there's Adult Swim on Cartoon Network whiches on during night time hours so only teens and adults

can watch. Of course I've been talking on and on so you're probably wondering what are some good shows to watch.

Well I'll give you a list of shows any anime fan should see(and I'm not talking about Yu-Gi-Oh or One Piece. I mean real ones.)

Trigun(wallpaper obtained on www.everything-anime.com with out permission. Don't sue!)

First up one of the coolest shows ever. I'm talking about Trigun.

Now Trigun can be best summed up as a action/comedy/sci-fi/western. Confusing? Yes. Entertaining? Heck yeah!

The show follows Vash the Stampede an outlaw on the planet Gunsmoke(yes that's the planets name).

Now Vash has a $$60,000,000,000 bounty on his head. Why? Well cuz he blew up a town and killed thousands of people.

The wierd thing is that Vash turns out to be this goofy klutz who's more interested in geting a doughnut then causing mayhem.

So Vash is then tailed by two insurance agents Millie and Meryl who's job is to monitor the destruction he causes.

Of course the destruction is usually caused by the bad guys he goes against in the show.

He then meets a wondering priest named Nicholas D. Wolfwood who carries a huge gun. Yes this sounds crazy but trust me it rules.

Especially whenever Vash and the gang fight bad guys. Check it out. Seriously.

What is the name of the black cat that appears in every episode?

Naruto(This wallpaper was taken from www.everything-anime.com without permission. Don't Sue!)

Here's a little fact of life for all those reading this. Ninja's are awesome beyond any way the human mind could percieve them.

This fact is made abundantly clear by the show Naruto which for the moment is being aired exclusively on Toonami.

Though DVDs will be out next March(I know it's a long wait but that's why I'm taping them right now.)

Anywho the show is about Naruto(the one with the spiky blonde hair in the orange) a kid who lives in a village of ninja's.

Anyway at first he's just a punk who plays pranks and gets in trouble alot. However he also has this dream of becoming the next Hokage

aka the head honcho of a ninja village. So when Naruto graduates from ninja training he's paired with Sakura(the girl in the pic) and

Sasuke(the dude with the black hair). However at first things don't really go to smoothly. See Naruto has a crush on Sakura. But Sakura

hates Naruto. However she(like many of the girls in their village) has a crush on Sasuke. Naruto therefore hates Sasuke. And Sasuke?

Well he hates Naruto and could care less how Sakura feels about him. Yeah it is confusing. They also get this teacher named Kakashi

who's all mysterious and stuff. Well they go through all sorts of cool stuff like protecting an old bridge builder to fighting other kid ninjas

and much more. Now's the time to jump on the Naruto bandwagon if you're one of the 5 people who haven't already.

What is the name of the nine-tailed demon fox trapped in Naruto?

Fullmetal Alchemist

Fullmetal Alchemist is one of those shows that no matter who you are or where you live you fall in love

from the first episode. Shows like these are rare but special. The story is about two brothers named

Edward and Alphonse Elric. Ed is the older one and Al's the younger one. Now they aren't everyday

kids though. See they're both alchemists(if you don't know what an alchemist is look it up) which means

they can do alchemy. However they then used their new found powers to try something forbidden by

the laws of alchemy. They attempt a human transmutation to bring their dead mother back to life.

However it fails horribly and leaves Ed without a left arm or right leg and Al without a body so Ed

transfers his brothers soul to an empty suit of armor. Ed gets his arm and leg replaced with robotic

ones called "auto mail". That was 4 years ago though and since then Ed's joined the military as a

alchemist and they are looking for something called the "Philosiphers Stone" which can hopefully give

Al his body back and Ed his arm and leg. It's running on Adult Swim right now and should be viewed.

What is the name of each Homunculus in the show?

FLCL

Now a big fact about anime is the fact that some of it is bizzare beyond all comprehension. A good example would be FLCL.

Now FLCL(which is actually an abbreviation for Fooly Cooly) is hard to explain. It's only 6 episodes long but is so confusing they could

make it 100 eps long and it still wouldn't make much sense. It took me 5 or 6 viewings to finally figure out what it was about and I still am

discovering references to anime and pop culture hidden among it. Basically the story's about Naota the kid with the band aid on his head.

He lives in this little town where nothing special happens. His older brother left for America to become a pro baseball player and he lives

with his dad and grandpa. Then one day a girl on a motor scooter named Haruka drives along and hits him on the head with a bass guitar!

And not just any bass mind you but a left-handed 1962 Rickenbaker 4003 4 string bass(Here's a pic for reference though it's the right

handed version.)

Well when Naota comes to he has this bump on his head of course. But later the bump bursts open and a

couple robots come out one which has a TV for a head. After that more bumps appear and of course more robots to fight come out.

If you are as big a pop culture and anime freak I am look for references in the episodes(here's a couple in one episode Haruka repairs her

scooter by jamming a Gundam model in it. In another episode she references Elvis,Jimi Hendrix,Red Hot Chili Peppers, and

Rage Against The Machine.)

What kind of motor scooter does Haruka drive?

Cowboy Bebop(image taken from www.ani-walls.net without permission. Don't Sue!)

Cowboy Bebop is a anime which everyone,EVERYone must watch. It's that good.

Imagine Dirty Harry,A Fistful of Dollars, old martial arts films, every Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez film ever made,

and old school sci-fi pulp and mix it together. Basically it follows 4 bounty hunters in the year 2071. And the characters are awesome.

Take Spike(the dude in the blue) for example. He's the epitome of cool. You have to see the show to know why. The other characters

are Jet the grizzled ex-cop with a robotic arm,Faye the gambling loving ex-con,Ed the 13 year old computer hacking genius and Ein the

super intelligent and cute Welsh Corgi.

Seriously though,watch this show.

What Queen song has an episode named after it on Cowboy Bebop?

Outlaw Star(wallpaper taken from www.everything-anime.com without permission. Don't sue!)

Now some might call this a Cowboy Bebop rip-off at first glance. But they'd be wrong considering that while both Bebop and Star were

from Studio Sunrise they were only released a couple months apart from each other making that theory impossible. But I digress,on to the

description. Set in the far off future Outlaw Star tells the story of Gene Starwind a bounty hunter and outlaw. Now while those are

contradictory to each other to a normal person let me explain. In this story there are three groups in the universe.

The Space Forces,Pirates, and Outlaws. Outlaws are basically people who play by their own rules. Bounty hunters are included.

Now Gene has a partner, the 11 year old genius Jim Hawkins(named after the main character in Treasure Island). After a mission with a

enigmatic and mysterious outlaw named Hilda though Gene acquires a ship. Not just any ship mind you but a ship with a sentient

computer system and is controlled by what appears to be a 17 year old girl named Melfina. They also acquire other wacky

bounty hunters along the way. You better watch this show. It's a must.

What reason was Outlaw Star taken off of Toonami?

Witch Hunter Robin

Now this is the last show on the list since there are too many great Gundam shows and Neon Genesis Evanglion will confuse alot of

people. However this show won't confuse people and is a kick butt show that's also pretty creepy at times.

Witch Hunter Robin follows Robin Sena a young girl from Italy who's just transferred to Tokyo from Rome. See apparently witches still

exist though the general public doesn't know it and the government wants to keep it that way. So the UN decided to create a secret

international agency called the STN. The Japanese branch is of course called the STNJ. Now they're called in whenever a

"craft user" as they call them commits a crime. They hunt them down and gun'em down(with tranquilizer darts of course) and take'em in.

Now Robin makes a great addition to her team cuz she's actually a craft user and has the power of pyrokenesis(the ability to create fire with your mind). The cases they get can run the gamut from seemingly normal to disturbing. But definitely one worth watching.

What holiday did Witch Hunter Robin premiere on Adult Swim.

And there's my list. Coming up next an article on Jhonen Vasquez one of the greatest yet demented people in the world.

Jhonen Vasquez is a genius who can make some of the most horrific things into comedy goldmines. Well here's a list of things he's given the

world. Be warned most are not for the faint of heart.

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac

The fellow above is Johnny the anti-hero to end all anti-heroes. Imagine The Punisher mixed with Jason Voorhes and that's Johnny.

He basically hunts down people who pick on people like him and kills them. He then uses their blood to paint a wall in his house with a demon

on the other side which if released will destroy all of reality. He also is constantly pestered by two demented and possesed Pillsbury Dough

Boy styrofoam standups. Oh and then there's Nail Bunny a cute fuzzy bunny nailed to a wall with a huge nail through him. Johnny also has a

next door neighbor in the form of the easily scared and innocent Squee(his real name's Todd but "squee" was the sound he made when he

met Johnny so that's his nick name.) Basically the 7 issue comic follows Johnny through his demented killings and also features the bizarre

comic Johnny writes and draws called "Happy Noodle Boy" about a stick figure whos spouts the most inane things. It's gruesome, disturbing,

horrific, and disgusting. Which is probably why it's so hilarious. A must read for those who love their humor black as the darkest pits of hell.

What is the name of the possessed Big Boy cardboard cutout at the end of the series?

Squee!

Now Squee is alot less darker, violent, and disturbing than JTHM but that doesn't mean it's something the kiddies should read.

Squee is set shortly after JTHM's conclusion and follows the character the comic is named after. Now Squee's an innocent and carefree boy

even though his dad hates his guts and his mom is so pilled up most of the time she doesn't seem to notice her husbands loathing of their son.

Squee also has a stuffed bear named Shmee who constantly tells him to do unspeakably horrible things. Squee also has a classmate named

Peppito who's really the anti-christ. Though Peppito's more concerned about palling around with Squee and getting back at bullies than

bringing the apocalypse. All in all another great contribution to comic society.

What is the name of the boy Squee befriends and shortly after is eaten by a wiener dog?

I Feel Sick

Okay I couldn't find a better pic on this stupid school computer what with the retarded filter on it. Anyway I Feel Sick is about Devi a girl

who used to be Johnny from JTHM's girlfriend ...until he went momentarily insane and tried to kill her. She much like him is a person who

thinks the world is full of jerks and idiots. She works at a bookstore and has to put up with the incredibly annoying customers and co-workers

who interact with her every day. Basically it follows her day to day life and well that's it. The only comic Jhonen did in color.

What is the name of the doll Devi's holding in the above pic?

Happy Noodle Boy

HNB is about a stick figure named Happy Noodle Boy who is incredibly insane and makes everyone want to kill him. Which they usually

do since he dies at the end of every comic. A bonus comic series featured in Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. The series is supposed to be

drawn and written by Johnny.

What is the most common death for HNB?

Filler Bunny

A bizarre comic about a pink bunny named Filler Bunny who does...stuff. Seriously I can't usually figure this comic out. It was originally a

comic featured in I Feel Sick but ended up as it's own series. Go figure.

What is the name of the food that Filler Bunny must eat in one comic that got a planet in Invader Zim named after it?

Invader Zim

Simply put Invader Zim's one of the greatest cartoons to have ever been created by human beings. However it got cancelled in 2002 just a

year after premiering cuz Nicklodeon wouldn't know a good show if it bit'em on the...well you get the idea. But you can by the DVD's so I

guess it's okay. Anyway the show is about Zim(the red eyed alien in the pic) an Irken who wants to be part of Operation Impending Doom 2.

However The Almighty Tallest refuse his request since he screwed up the first Operation Impending Doom. Then they change their mind and

decide to send him to the planet farthest from the ones on the list of ones to be invaded...Earth! Of course they tell Zim that he has the most

important role in the invasion. Now every invader gets a robot companion for servaillance called a S.I.R. Unfortunately for Zim he gets a

moronic robot named G.I.R.(the robot in the pic). When they get to Earth they run into a problem when a kid named Dib (the kid with the

glasses in the pic) see's through their disguises and knows that Zim's an alien. Unfortunately for him know one believes him. But that's okay

cuz Zims plans always fail due to an unforseen flaw or G.I.R.'s stupidity. G.I.R. provides some of the best lines in the show and is generally

the one who makes you laugh alot. There are also references to Jhonen's other works hidden in the show too. Definitely check this out.

What is GIR's fave food?
