Materials needed daily: Book, 3-ring binder, paper and writing utensil
Homework procedures: Homework usually consists of anything that was not completed in class. Some reading outside of class will be assigned. Students will be reading two novels outside of class.
Testing procedures: Tests are given over short stories, and literary elements. Tests of novels and plays are broken into chapters and acts. All tests have a variety of question types, t/f, multiple choice, short answer and essay.
Notebooks: All students are expected to keep a 3-ring binder (journal). Work is done in the journal daily (grammar, writing, worksheets). Grades are given on the journal 3 X’s a nine weeks.
Additional Assignments: Students will be writing, researching and presenting information to classmates. Students will do some collaborative work.
Grade Structure: Average of total points.
HW: (usually) 5 to 15 points.
Papers: 50 to 100 points
Tests: 100 points
Quizzes: 5 to 10 points
Additional Information: Students have plenty of opportunity to make up for poor grades. My classes average about 600 possible points per 9 weeks.
